Tata Sky satellite television service was launched on 8th August, 2006.

How does Tata Sky work?
- Tata Sky uplinks all channels from broadcasters to its satellite (INSAT 4A).
- The satellite sends these channels in digital format to the minidish fixed outside your home.
- The minidish relays the channels to the digicomp which decodes the channels and sends them to your television, giving you an unparalleled television viewing experience with DVD quality picture and CD quality sound.

How is Tata Sky different from analog cable?
Unlike analog cable, you will be able to watch all television channels on Tata Sky in DVD quality picture and CD quality sound.
Does the service get affected by rains?
A few minutes of outage might occur during rains. This phenomenon is called RAIN OUTAGE and occurs in DTH platforms across the world. It will result in your television losing reception for some time. We have tried to cut down this time so it might happen only for one or two minutes in a year. This too is automatically detected and gets corrected by itself.
Can I watch 3D content with my Tata Sky HD and Tata Sky+ HD?
Yes! Both Tata Sky HD and Tata Sky+ HD set top boxes are capable of delivering 3D content. You will be able to watch 3D content with these boxes, as and when its available on Tata Sky. However you will need a 3D TV and 3D glasses in order to enjoy 3D content.

What are TruChoice – genre-based channel packages?
Tata Sky now offers channel packages in a simplified format. Channels are grouped together based on genre, so now you can choose only those channels that you wish to watch.
What are the packages available in TruChoice?
In TruChoice Channel Packages, you can subscribe to one of the Popular Packs & opt for any Optional Pack depending on your requirement. You also have the choice of picking your favorite regional channels through the various Regional Pack. Two regional packs are free with all Popular Packs

What is Make My Pack Service?
Tata Sky now gives you the power of building your own pack. Apart from the genre based packages prepared especially for your convenience, you can now also choose channels on a la carte basis.
You can either create your pack with only individual channels or do a mix-n-match of the existing TruChoice packs with individual channels. Just ensure that your minimum monthly subscription charges are Rs 150 or more.
The subscribers on old packaging can also select additional channels on a la carte basis.

What is India Cricket Pack?
India Cricket Pack is a 24 hours cricket channel available on Tata Sky on Channel No 400. The pack will air all live International matches played by India through the year which are available on channels with Tata Sky.

I have an Annual Mega Pack. Do I need to subscribe India Cricket Pack seperately?
No, India Cricket Pack will be a part of Mega Pack and Mega Pack Lite. Subscribers don't need to subscribe to it seperately.
What if I subscribe to India Cricket Pack & then decide not to continue with it?
India Cricket Pack is an Annual Pack. You will be able to change your package after the end of one year from subscribing to it.
Will I get all my favourite channels on Tata Sky?
Depending on the channel package you select, you can get popular television channels including STAR, Sony, Zee, SUN, HBO, Cartoon Network, Discovery, Disney Channel, MTV, NDTV, ESPN, STAR Sports, National Geographic Channel, Zoom, 9X, UTV Bindaas, UTV Movies and many more. What is Tata Sky's SMS number?
Our SMS number is 56633. You can SMS only from your Registered Mobile Number (RMN). To register, send RMN <space> <your 10-digit subscriber ID> to 56633 from your mobile phone.
How do I find my subscriber ID?
Press the ‘home’ button on your remote and your subscriber ID will get displayed on the screen.

What is Actve English?
Actve English service will help housewives improve their English conversational skills, vocabulary and pronunciation from the comfort of their homes, at a time most convenient to them. With Actve English, they can learn how to converse confidently in English in day to day situations like PTA meetings, malls, banks etc. and many more. The medium of instruction for this service is Hindi. Lessons learnt through the week can be revised on weekends. The content for this service is provided by British Council.

What are Zeetos?
Zeetos are reward points that you can accumulate by answering/participating in certain select activities on the Fun Learning Pack. So you keep participating & collecting zeetos, which you can then exchange for free toys.
You may go to Actve Wizkids, Actve Stories or Actve Learning & play games, take quizzes, read stories. Then answer specific questions/play specific games carrying the Zeetos icon, which will help you earn Zeetos (points). When a subscriber redeems a toy in exchange of Zeetos, he will be charged Rs 50 as processing fee. This will directly be debited to the subscriber's account.
Effective 25th May 2011, all subscribers dropping Fun Learning Pack will face 50% deduction of Zeetos from their account.

A television based story book that children can read and listen to at their own pace. The service features new stories in English and Hindi everyday from the likes of Panchatantra, Jataka tales and Hitopadesh.

What is Showcase?
Watch the latest blockbusters from the comfort of your home on Tata Sky’s pay-per-view service, Showcase. All movies come with just a single ad-break and in original print. The movies can be ordered once and enjoyed multiple times through the day.
Can I record a Showcase event on my Tata Sky+?
Yes, you can record a Showcase event on your TataSky+. However the recorded Showcase event will also have a limited validity just like your Showcase events does & will not be accessible on expiry.
Can I regulate what my children watch on television?
Yes. You can regulate what your children watch with Tata Sky‘s parental control feature. This unique feature allows you to lock movies based on parental ratings or even an entire channel. To do this, press ‘organiser’ button on your remote and select parental control.
What is guide?
With the guide you can find out what’s playing on any channel up to 4 days in advance. You can also set reminders for up to 50 programmes you wish to watch and get synopses of the programmes.
What other special features does Tata Sky offer?
Reminder
This feature allows you to set a reminder for your favourite programmes up to 4 days in advance, ensuring you never miss a beat of your favourite show again.
Favourites
You can set up to 50 channels in the order of your preference as a part of your favourites list.
Search & Scan Banner
This feature allows you to find out what’s playing on another channel without changing the channel you are watching.
The banner appears at the base of the television screen without interfering with what you are watching and disappears automatically after giving you the schedule of programmes across all channels.
What is the Once-a-Year Subscription Holiday Offer?
The Once-a-Year Subscription Holiday Offer allows subscribers to being able to disconnect their Tata Sky services for a minimum period of 5 days to a maximum period of 15 days, at a nominal cost of Rs 20.

What is the Installation Fee?
All new Tata Sky base set top box activations will be charged a Rs 400 Installation Fee wef 1st July 2011.
What is the recharge bonus campaign?
Subscribers recharging their Tata Sky accounts for Rs 301 or more when in 'active' status get a Recharge bonus of Rs 15 into their Tata Sky accounts. This campaign is valid for all recharges beginning 19th April 2011 for active subscribers.

What should I do in case of any problem with my digicomp?
All digicomps are covered under a Base Warranty for a period of 12 months from the date of installation (“Warranty Period”). Should you encounter any problem, please call the 24x7 Tata Sky helpline. Our Tata Sky associate will be able to help you resolve the problem. If the problem persists, we have a dedicated team of Tata Sky engineers who are trained to solve any technical problems that you may encounter. Post the Warranty Period, Tata Sky also offers an Annual Service Commitment service to its subscribers. You can get the details of the same by calling the Tata Sky helpline (for details on the Warranty Period, kindly refer to your Tata Sky Subscription Contract).
I need to understand the features on Tata Sky, what should I do?

What are the service visit and relocation charges?
Service Visit & Relocation charges are Rs 125. Material replacements done as part of the service visit or relocation will be charged extra.

Is Tata Sky available all over India?
Yes. Tata Sky is available across the country.
Can a subscriber transfer the ownership of the box to someone else?
Effective 30 December, 2010 the Transfer of Ownership facility has been withdrawn.
In case of discontinuation of services on subscriber’s request, the subscriber will not be allowed to transfer the digicomp/connection to anybody else.
The subscriber’s account will stand cancelled. Remaining account balance, if any, shall stand forfeited.
How do I recharge my account?
You can choose any of the three options below to recharge your account.
- Recharge through credit card or net banking account
Use your credit card to make payments by calling the Tata Sky helpline and choosing the ‘recharge through credit card’ option. You can also use your credit card/net banking account to recharge your Tata Sky account online through a secure payment gateway. Go to My Tata Sky on www.tatasky.com then choose Account Recharge in the main menu and select the credit card/net banking payment option. If you recharge online, you will not require a recharge PIN, your Tata Sky account will be credited directly.
Note: As per RBI mandate, the 2nd factor of authentication for IVR and Mobile based Transaction is applicable from 1 January 2011. This is a numeric off card data - passcode, which will be required by the customer every time while performing IVR or Mobile application based payment transaction which will reduce the risk of frauds and secure your card information.
- Voucher recharge
Purchase a recharge voucher of the desired denomination from any Tata Sky dealer. Scratch the back of the voucher to view the 16-digit recharge PIN. To recharge your account choose any of the options below:

What recharge denominations are available?
The following recharge denominations are available – Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 185, Rs 200, Rs 300, Rs 500, Rs 1000, Rs 2500 and Rs 5000. However, if you choose the option of recharging online through your credit card/net banking account on My Tata Sky you can recharge for any amount between Rs 185 to Rs 30,000.
What is mobile recharge?
Tata Sky account can be recharged using state-of-the-art mobile technology. Powered by ATOM technologies, this is a convenient way to top-up your Tata Sky account, make insurance payments and shop. A Tata Sky subscriber can avail of this facility by linking his credit card/debit card to the mobile application.

How does mobile recharge work?
Once the application is downloaded successfully on your mobile, you need to register and get yourself a Customer ID & a PIN. For self-help screens, click here.

What is Chhota Recharge?
Tata Sky now gives you the option to recharge for smaller values of Rs 50 and Rs 100 with the Chhota Recharge voucher. Chhota Recharge voucher is available in all cities at a dealer near you.
Can I also do a Chhota Recharge from www.mytatasky.com?
You will not be able to do small value recharges from the self-care section or the helpline since the Chhota Recharge voucher is currently available only in a paper voucher format.
What is the administrative fee on the Chota recharge voucher?
An administrative fee of Rs 2 will be debited to your account for processing the Chhota Recharge Voucher.
What is the minimum recharge value on Tata Sky?
The minimum recharge value for recharges through EVD, Oxigen & other partners is Rs 100. The Rs 100 Paper Recharge Vouchers remains valid (with a top-up value of Rs 98). For all other modes the minimum recharge value is Rs 165.
Is there any change in the Combo Offers pricing?
No. All the Combo Offers with Long Duration Packs will not be affected with this change.
What about the new acquisition with monthly pay packs?
New activations choosing monthly packs will now need to recharge with cost of installation & Rs 185 in order to activate their Tata Sky. Those opting for Bundled offers or any other LDPs will continue to have to recharge with cost of installation & the cost of the package.
What is the warranty on the digicomp?
We offer a 12-month warranty on the digicomp and the initial installation. Post the Warranty Period, Tata Sky also offers an Annual Service Commitment service to its subscribers. You can get the details of the same by calling the Tata Sky helpline (for details on the Warranty Period, kindly refer to your Tata Sky Subscription Contract).
My television set has very few channels; will I be able to view all the channels that Tata Sky has to offer?
The Tata Sky digicomp supports viewing of an unlimited number of channels, irrespective of the number of channels on your television set, you will be able to watch a large number of channels.
What is the ideal solution for me if I have more than one television at home?
We have two unique solutions for you.
- MultiTV connection
- One digicomp per television
- Can watch different channels on different televisions at any given time
- Subscription charges for the 1st digicomp applicable as per the package
- Avail of the same package on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th digicomp for only Rs 160 per month, Rs 900 Semi Annually & Rs 1,760 Annually per digicomp (inclusive of all taxes)
- Digilink
- Need only one digicomp per two televisions
- Have to watch the same channel on both televisions at any given time
- Additional hardware (digilink) to be purchased
- Subscription charges for the 1st television applicable as per the package selected
- No additional subscription charges for the 2nd television
- No additional charges on installing the digilink, provided the digilink is installed with the primary connection
Do you have a solution for multi-storeyed buildings?
Residents of a multi-storeyed building, getting a Tata Sky connection, are required to get society permissions prior to their purchase.
Tata Sky also offers a Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) solution for multi-storeyed buildings, with the option of using a single minidish for the entire building. Individual homes still need to have their own digicomps and maintain individual subscription accounts with Tata Sky.
If I relocate, what happens to my connection?
You can take your Tata Sky digicomp with you to any place in India. Call our helpline to find out more about our relocation policy.
What is non-standard or premium installation?
Tata Sky’s standard installation is with 10 metre cable length. Any installation that calls for an increase in the length of the cable or any form of internal cabling, special mounting or RF connection to additional televisions, would be categorized under non-standard or premium installation. Please speak to the Tata Sky associate for more information on this before your purchase.
What is ASC?
ASC stands for Annual Service Commitment - a special service offered to Tata Sky subscribers to have their digicomp serviced after the base warranty period is over.
How does a subscriber avail of the ASC?
The subscriber needs to call the helpline and request for ASC enrolment. A Tata Sky engineer will then visit the subscriber's home to carry out a technical inspection of the equipment, post which he will get the ASC form duly filled and signed by the subscriber.
What is covered under the ASC & what is the validity of the ASC?
The Tata Sky digicomp will be covered under the ASC. This ASC will not cover the Remote and/or any willful physical damage of the digicomp or installation material, any form of substitution or replacement that has been done, any defacement of the serial number on the digicomp, any voltage fluctuations or rat bites or neglect on account of improper use.
